Cryptocurrency crime surges, losses hit $4.4 billion
According to blockchain forensics company CipherTrace, cybercrime has surged in 2019 by a whopping 150% in the first nine months compared to the whole of 2018. The increase represents $4.4 billion in losses, up from $1.7 billion. “The 150% increase in crypto theft and fraud reflects how criminals are adapting for bigger and better scores,” Dave Jevans, CipherTrace CEO, told Reuters.
