India proposes new groundbreaking data rules
India has proposed new rules in a "Personal Data Protection Bill 2019" that would require companies to get user consent before collecting personal data. At the same time, however, companies will be ordered to hand over "non-personal" data of their users to the government. In a final twist, New Delhi will hold the power to collect a person's data without consent, thereby bypassing its own laws.
